The changing face of undergraduate medical education

Abstract 

A background is provided to the radical changes that have taken place in undergraduate medical education over the past decade in Britain, along with details of how these changes are being implemented in a new integrated curriculum in Cardiff. The opportunities offered by our new curriculum, especially the 30 of time given to special study modules that encourage greater initiative, curiosity and originality beyond core learning, have to be tempered by the greatly increased demands on the time of teaching staff to effectively deliver the new curriculum.
