The management of obesity
Abstract
Childhood obesity is now considered a global epidemic because its prevalence and severity is increasing worldwide at alarming rates. Although most practicing paediatricians recognize clinically significant obesity and are aware of its potential morbidities, they often lack the tools to accurately quantify it, are rarely able to successfully treat it, and usually have no consistent approach to its treatment and prevention. In this update, recent information concerning definition, complications, evaluation and management of childhood obesity is provided.
