A Children's Commissioner for Wales

Abstract 

On 1 March 2001, Peter Clarke became the first ever Children's Commissioner in the UK. Since that time, he has been working to safeguard and promote the rights and welfare of children in Wales. This paper outlines the main responsibilities and powers of his office, as well as the things he has done during what has been a hectic and exciting first 18 months.
