Assistive technology for children with complex disabilities

Summary 

Assistive technology (AT) can enable children to move around their environment, communicate with others and take part in activities that they would be unable to do without technology. In order for children with complex disabilities to gain access to this technology, a team has to exist around them to offer appropriate and timely advice. This paper considers what aspects of daily living AT can now help with and provides an information resource to those who may be involved with children with disabilities. In particular, it discusses the role that the paediatrician has within the multidisciplinary team.
