Update on new vaccines and immunisation strategies

Summary 

A number of new vaccines are being developed against the leading infectious causes of death in children. This update focuses on vaccines likely to affect the clinical practice of the readership in the next 5–10 years, including vaccines against bacterial (meningococcus, pneumococcus, group B Streptococcus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and viral (respiratory syncytial virus, influenza, rotavirus, human papilloma virus, varicella-zoster virus) diseases.
