Management of periventricular haemorrhage and its sequelae

Summary 

PVH remains a difficult problem to manage for the neonatologist. Whilst those with minor PVHs can be reassured, those with moderate to severe haemorrhage are faced with an uncertain prognosis and no interventions of proven benefit. Prevention in the form of improved neonatal care has made the most impact on mortality and morbidity in this condition and at present, strategies aimed at prevention would appear to offer the most hope in the immediate future.
